Chinajoinsint'lIPcooperationinitiativetoenhancepatentprosecutionprocesses_GuangmingOnlineBEIJING,April14(Xinhua)--TheChinaNationalIntellectualPropertyAdministration(CNIPA)announcedthisweekthatitwilljointhePatentProsecutionHighway(PPH)ImprovementInitiative,whichinvolvescooperationbetweentheworld'sfiveleadingIPoffices,namelyChina,theUnitedStates,Europe,JapanandtheRepublicofKorea.Theobjectiveofthisinitiativeistoestablishamorepredictableexaminationcycle.AccordingtotheCNIPA,itwillthisyearstriveforanaveragedurationof3monthsfromthegrantofaPPHrequesttoissuanceofafirstofficeaction.Similarly,itwillaimforanaverageresponsetimefromexaminertoapplicantofnomorethan3months.PPHisafasttracklinkingpatentexaminationdutiesofdifferentcountriesorregions,allowingpatentexaminationauthoritiestosharetheirworktospeeduppatentexamination.SincetheinitiationofthefirstPPHpilotprograminNovember2011,theCNIPAhasbuiltPPHtieswithpatentexaminationauthoritiesof32countriesorregions.Thefivemembersoftheinitiativearetheworld'sfiveleadingIPoffices,knownastheIP5.Theytogetherhandleabout80percentoftheworld'spatentapplications.TheIP5wassetuptoimprovetheefficiencyoftheexaminationprocessforpatentsworldwide.Editor:DisclaimerTheviewsandopinionsexpressedinthisarticlearethoseoftheauthor's,GMW.cnmakesnorepresentationsastoaccuracy,suitability,orvalidityofanyinformationonthissiteandwillnotbeliableforanyerrors,omissions,ordelaysinthisinformation.
